I'm looking to get some anemones for my 29 gallon salt tank I'm going to be getting some clown fish after a while when I have the money saved up.

Is it a good idea to get the anemone first and let it settle in the tank then get the clowns or not and what are some good anemones that look decent for a good cost I'm willing to spend money to get good anemones tho thanks for the info.

The optimal choice is a tank completely through it's cycle for 3-6 months (obligatory anemone info), for that reason and my personal experience, it's better to get clowns first, they handle variations in chemistry better. Variations in water chemistry take a couple months to stabilize, once stabilized then add an anemone larger than your clowns and not newly cloned.

As for types, the best choice is a clown and anemone natural host.

Look up clown type and compatibility with anemones:

I have always had the clowns before the anemone. One thing to keep in mind is don't be too discouraged if the clowns do not want to be hosted by the anemone. Some people have high hopes that their clowns will be hosted by the anemone and then they want nothing to do with the anemone. I would get an anemone that would be appropriate for your tank size. For a 29 gallon, I would most likely go with a bubble tipped.

So you both think it's better to get clowns first so I will get clowns first my tank has been up for almost 2 months now so I will wait a while before I get an anemone thanks for the info now I just gotta get the money saved up for the clowns

Your OP said "anemoneS" --- plural. What species are you considering?
What lights does your tank have?
Sandbed or rock dwelling?

A 29 is a fairly small tank when it comes to hosting anemones, so curious what you had in mind.
