I feel like I’ve posted here quite often since getting into the saltwater hobby. I’m horrible at replying to forums I post but I promise i read all the responses. So I have a 28 gallon bio cube with what I believe is a bubble tip anemone, a carpet anemone, and a rock flower along with fish. Everything in the tank seems to be doing fine but I came home today and my bubble tip was split. I immediately started freaking out and googling. It didn’t split directly in half there’s a little piece and a huge piece. Both pieces are still stuck to the same rock just in different spots and the color still looks normal. I’m worried about what to look for in terms of it going downhill. I am also wondering how often everyone feeds their anemones. I don’t want to over feed mine and kill them. I have pictures but they’re very hard to see.

With feeding i always recommend erring on the side of caution. Remember, nems can go indefinitely without feeding if the lighting is sufficient. I had a huge colony of RBTA clones in a big clump that i never feed - like for 3 years and they just kept splitting and growing. Seems like most people feed 1-2 x per week. I recommend a very small piece of food - smaller than you think is OK.
Nems routinely change shape, split and do weird things. I'd just take a deep breath and check it tomorrow. Regarding it going downhill the two big concerning things are a progressive shriveling where it gets smaller and small, never opening up OR the guts on the inside coming outside/wide open gaping mouth.

Thank you!!! How often do you recommend feeding the fish in that tank? I feel like every time I’m near it they start following me which makes me think they’re hungry(my cichlids all do the same thing when they want food)
I’m going to keep an eye on it I’m just worried it will go down over night. I can’t see the mouth on either piece of it.

Oh, fish are different. I feed my fish frozen food 2X per day and pellets 4X but I am of the opinion that my fish should be as wide as they are tall. Heavy feeding your tank will help limit how much you need to feed your nem because small particles in the water column will find their way to the nem
