We just had an ich outbreak in our 110gal and took all of our surviving fish out and out in QT. We have left our snails, crabs, cleaner shrimp, and anemone in the 110. We also have 3 clown fish in a diff QT. Our plan was to make our 110 a reef tank, but with the outbreak, we are going to switch the reef tank to a 65gal we recently got. We bought all new sand, all new rock, and itll be new water also. When we go to put the anenome in there with the clowns, can it carry ich over? I am starting fresh so we dont have ich to worry about it.

Our LFS said we could do a dip on it then out it in and itll be fine. I just want to make sure thatll work. Anyone have experience with this?

... dip the anemone ... in what?? ;Wideyed ;Jawdrop

sorry to hear about the ich outbreak. I think it has to be acknowledged that there is a risk albeit a small one, and protomonts / tomonts can potentially settle on inverts. I'm guessing that any ich inside the anemone would be digested (?). a typical coral dip solution will not eradicate any ich (that's not the type of pest it's meant for).

letting the 110G tank or the 65G tanks go fishless for 76 days minimum may be the better approach.

He suggested hydroplex dip. The 65 has nothing, and I wont put anything in it until my clowns are done with quarantine. They're brand new and havent been exposed to anything in my 110gal that had/has ich. But that's where the anenome is right now, which will need to go into the 65gal.

respectfully, i'm not at all familiar with hydroplex. it looks like a horticultural plant nutrient.

It's what we have used for everyone before putting them in the tank. The anenome got it prior to going into the 110 and did fine, I just wasnt sure if there was something better to use.

Mainly I want to see what the best way to get my anenome into the 65gal when it's up and running and not carry ich over with it.
