I just got this nem last night, first one in my tank and I waited a year to buy one because I wanted to make sure the tank was stable and ready for it.

I picked the biggest "small" one even though part of it was mushed under a rock in the basket. It was noticeably bigger than the other small one and he gave it to me attached to the rock so there was no issue with harming the foot. After acclimation it slowly opened last night before the lights went out and all looked good. Over night it moved just a bit on it's rock, but when it opened this morning I saw this:

Is that anything to worry about? I didn't want to try feeding it until it was in the tank for a couple days at least. Here is a pic from last night:

My inclination is to leave it be, any advice?

Usually a nem eating its on tentacles is a sign of starvation but since it’s new so I would stress about too much. It looks good but wait at least a week until feeding

Looks like it spit it out in the last hour or so.

This is a recent shot with the white lights on:

I should still wait a week or so before offering food right?

Yes give hi some time... nice nem!

Thanks! I've wanted a black widow for a while now, but hadn't seen any for sale around here since last summer. I felt like the tank was still too new then to get one.
