So was browsing my no so local lfs website and came across Vitalis Anenome pellets.

Based on a quick read of the description the inhrents are very close to A standard marine pellet

Part of me goes ooh fancy Anenome food buy it now but the other part of me says don’t waste your money.

I would be interested to hear the thaughts of more experienced Anenome owners or if anyone has used this food and there experiences with it.

Don't waste your money.

I just feed my anemones de-shelled shrimp, or a cut of sushi grade fish.
If it had something special in the ingredients I would have tried it without a second thought.

My Rose BTA loves whatever frozen food I’m feeding the rest of the tank.

How big isnyour BTA and how big pieces can they consume?

I just added a 2 inch BTA and it came with a small baby (4 tentacles only). Trying to find what and how much can they be fed?

I use pippet to drop mysis or brine shrimp ... they gram them using there tentacles but wondering if they are eating or releasing after a while .. or fishes stealing from them ...

Mine is about 10cm across I drop a Chunk of whatever I’m feeding that day on to the Nem and the tencles grab the food and push it into the mouth usually around once a week I’m no expert though I’ve only had mine for a bit over a month

There is a good sticky thread in the section on feeding.

Probably just some cheap fish pellets in another bottle. LFS will do anything for that extra $
I think you are correct.

I took some time to check the ingredients and amours between vitalism marine pellets and Anenome pellets and they contain almost identical protein moisture inorganic matter and fat content as well as vitamins within 1%. The actual Ingredients are the same too. Only difference is the Anenome pellets don’t have a vegetable component.

So essential are a carnivore pellet that costs $5 more a jar Because it says Anenome.

I could only imagine what a "prepared" anemone food could have in it, but their actual nutritional needs are fairly basic, even more so than many fish in the hobby.

Mine do appreciate a spot of Reef Roids when I feed the other corals in the tank, but at the end of the day all they really need is light to support their Zooxanthellae and maybe a target feeding once a month to make them especially happy.

I used to feed vitalis all the time. Nice and easy without making the nems sick from spoiled food. They are not great for carpets though.

did you notice any difference between using vitals and not? Also why not great for carpets? not that I have a carpet but interesting to know.

My anemones took them pretty well. I still have them but don’t feed any of my anemones any longer.

The problem for carpets is that they don’t clump together well to make it worth it. And the carpets don’t grab the individual pellets. Not worth it to them. My carpets are all over 8” - 24”. So it would take lots to even feed them.

I do broadcast my tank with mysis daily for the fish. I also run my led lights at 100% blue and white channels.

I have kept anemones for over 9 years and just recently started feeding pellets 2-3 times a week and it has been a massive difference from feeding bits of shrimp and frozen food. I have noticed much faster growth, deeper colors where the tentacles are no longer transparent. Currently have 5 Chicago sunbursts and will always use pellets after the positive changes I’ve observed

They certainly look to be doing well. Did you feed any other type of pellet before anemone pellets?

Am thinking it might be time to try an experiment try feeding fish pellets for a couple of months then anemone pellets and see what produces the best results.

This pellet was is the only one I tried. I Was looking for a decent size pellet, sinking, and soft and this was the only one I could find to fit the bill. With all pumps off it’s easy to throw in the pellets and have them hit their mark without putting hands or tongs in the water

Very large LTA here, and I feed a half wild caught large shrimp, or a fresh mussel , that I don't eat ( what a shame) weekly. Never done me wrong. These pellets are interesting though.
