Most fish will steer clear of a Condylactis. I had a 55g dedicated to being a Condylactis tank and I had 2 rugged Maroons who were not afraid of them. On the same note, Cardinalfish has been known to do a swim through some of my BTA's and LTA's. I certainly hope yours do not venture near the one in your tank.

The fish seem to be keeping away from it.My shrimp got too close and jumped back and moved away pretty quick

Shrimps will often steal food from anemones.

It has lost some color... don't give up on it. The color can be brought back with some good feedings and good lighting. This is a pretty potent one as well, but having the correct clownfish all could be well.

BTA's (attach to your live rock) and LTA's (sand dwellers and like a deep sand bed) are both easy anemones to keep and tend to be on the safer side for many clownfishes. Any anemone can sting coral. Just the degree. I had a carpet much like the one you bought. It was healthy. Very healthy which grabbed my hand once and stung me for maybe ten or fifteen minutes.

You can glide your hands through an LTA or BTA without that happening.

THAT IS NORMAL ON ANEMONE AND AGREED THIS IS A CONYLACTUS FROM ATLANTIC, LIKELY FLORIDA. should BE no more THAN $12.99, WITH $9.99 AVERAGE.

If you paid more or at the Bubble-tip pricing, I would return it for refund and find a different store

Condys are the cheap nems that Petco sells by the dozen, hoping that people will see a $10 anemone and buy them for their clownfish. Nothing wrong with condys, if that's what you want. But I dont know much and haven't been in the hobby long but IMO whether your LFS got a condy and bubble tip confused... or whether they sold you a $10 anemone as a bubble tip... either way I wouldn't return to the store other than to get a refund.

I wouldn’t buy anemones from your lfs any more. What lighting do you have? If it is decent it may save the carpet, but the cony should be returned since labeled wrong. Keep your hands out of your carpet, feed it with tweezers. Some color up and can turn super pretty. If given proper care they should be hardy

Not a bubble tip. Looks like a bleached Condy.
It’s stressed out, which causes it to deflate and inflate.
If you paid for a bubble tip I would return it

I have just bought a bubble tip anenome.
When it was in my LFS it was all white with purple tips.
Now I have it home and still in the bag it has a big red bulbous middle that keeps inflating and deflating.
Can anyone tell me what this is and why is it happening.

Return it immediately, if they sold u a condy instead of what they say it is that is call dishonest, the person should know the differences without a doubt.. . Bring it back or go discuss a possible refund for the difference on the price between a condy and a bubble tip.

Well many nems can uproot and sting, but the condy does have a slightly stronger sting.

It's not actually considered a host anemone, but some clowns may adjust to it.

I would prefer a true host anemone myself and would probably exchange it for one.

Condy's are not for everybody nor a perfect suit for everybody, I have some bubble tip with about 4 Condy's without problems but my tank is also a corner 92 gallons, my nemos swim on them and rub and hang with them with out issues .They won't bother my corals either but not everybody is lucky as to not find a fish on their mouth.
