I was wondering if there are any special requirements for keeping angel fish. I've tried several over the years and have had them die from a day old to 6 months later. Monday I decided to try one again my LFS had a nice healthy Elibi that was eating. Monday he swam around some and ate some when I did my usual feeding. Tuesday he stayed hidden more and didn't eat. Wednesday he hid behind my rocks and my wife said my watchman goby is missing and thought the angel was behind the rocks eating the goby. I moved my rocks and didn't find the goby but the angel was twitching when it came out when I moved the rocks. It still looks OK but not sure what is going on. Any help would be appreciated.

Oh yeah and my parameters are good and this set up is about 7 years old

Eibli Angelfish can be shy when first introduced to a tank and may hide, especially if being picked on by other fish. Also, it is not unusual for angelfish to come in with body flukes and/or other parasites. Is the fish scratching or breathing heavy? Do you see signs of ich, excess mucous, or other signs of parasitic disease? And lastly, can you post any pics?

I can't see any signs of ich or parasites. It was twitching before I left for work. Wasn't rubbing against the rocks or anything. Here is a pic but was taken Monday yesterday it was hiding behind the rocks

Sorry the picture posted twice. And as far as temp my tank runs around 80

I run my tank on the cooler side (77.8) but thats me but is there a another fish thats bothers the Angel? will it hide for a long period of time or is it out and about like in the photo? Is he eating at all? Just a few Q&A

That photo was the first day he did swim around exploring the tank later I have a green chromis that was being aggressive toward him. It's not even half the size of the angel. As far as I know it hasn't eaten the last couple of days. It was picking at the rocks and shells of my snails the first day plus ate at feeding time.

Yes it's amazing how timid most fish can be when they are the newbie especially a Angel fish. But because of the new environment they can become very stressed and not recover due to a tank bully. I would remove the chrome but another question I had was how big is your tank? Territory is important to fish to feed and live together so how they are introduced, with whom, and how much space available is important.
I have a angel that's a jerk in a big tank be he wants every inch to be his and hrs stressed three fish to death due to that.

I have a 50 gallon right now I have the chromis and 2 percula clowns have a watchman goby also but yesterday I couldn't find it. My clown basically stay inside 2 conch shells I have.. the chromis has been picking on the female clown lately. Which is odd they have been tank mates for a few years.

Yea the chromis can be real jerks and since you have a 50gallon the rule is 1" for every fish as far as bio load but it doesn't take into consideration the fish personality a
Me territory habits.

Someone else told me it sounds like it has flukes and needs a freshwater dip?

Actually appears to be doing OK this morning thank God. It's swimming in the back part of the tank and is breathing OK and not twitching. It's not hiding behind the rocks anyway. I think I will be getting rid of my chromis though .

If your fish is healthy,[eating swimming] but shows signs of a parasite, then you can FWD. But if fish is not healthy and you FWD ,it will be dead in a minute!!!!!.

If you have had that many problems with angel fish you should quarantine them first....actually all fish, however, after 7 years you probably know that. I fwd all fish and its amazing what comes off some of them.

Guys, I'm still getting acquainted to saltwater fish (been a freshwater guy all my life). How do you FWD if you can't use a net? And I assume the dip is only for a few seconds.
Glad to hear your angel is doing better!! I lost an annularis recently. Was fine in QT for 2 weeks and died within 2 days of getting introduced into the main tank. Tricky fish angels are.

IMO/E, there is no need to do a fresh water dip --- just use Prazi Pro (( while in QT )) for flukes.

Today it's doing better thank God. It's swimming around hopefully it will eat later. I will have to get rid of my chromis though . It was picking on the angel Tues.
