Angel still getting crypto after 21 days

Several of my fish started showing signs of crypto, so they are all now going through a cupramine treatment. I slowly raised the cu levels until they were around 0.5 using a Hanna checker. Once all the spots had disappeared, I started that at day 1 (around 9 days with the levels between 0.45-0.55).

Yesterday was day 21 (29 total) and my black velvet angel appears to have a spot on his upper fin. Today I noticed a second spot on his body. The levels have been kept faithfully between 0.45-0.55 the whole time (testing daily). Is this normal? I thought if the levels where maintained, they couldn't get re-infected.

Are you sure you're not seeing Lympho rather than ich? If they have been in treatment that long, and you're measuring with hanna and the spot is on the fin, I would suspect lympho rather than ich.

I also wonder about lympho as it’s common during copper treatment. I wouldn’t think ich could make it in cupramine that long. Go the full 30 days and then remove it and see what happens. If the spots stay in place for more than a few days it isn’t ich.

It's not actually on the tip of the fin, it's on the side. I've seen lympho & it really doesn't look like it. Lights are out now, but this spot looked semi-tan to me. So, maybe a wound or bent scale. The fish do quarrel at times a little.

I looked again at the 2nd spot just before lights out and didn't see it this time, so maybe it was just something or a scale too. The scales on this fish sparkle so much in the lighting it makes me think it has spots all the times.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I originally treated all these fish over the summer before I got the Hanna. Turned out I only had the levels at 0.5 for the last week & a half of my 30 day period. Everything looked good, so i stopped. It came back after several months. I was going to go 30 days, maybe I'll add two weeks and go 44 to be safe.

Was able to get a cell phone picture today. It's the brownish looking thing on the upper fins near the front. After a better look today, it doesn't look like the crypto I had did & it's kind of sticking outward. Any ideas?

The spot is now gone after 4-5 days, so seems like a typical parasite cycle. Do you think the copper in the water will kill it before it forms it's protective shell on the substrate?
