Angelfish fending for its life!!!!HELP

Hello I just purchased a angelfish today and my other fish have been nipping at it. It’s fins are starting to shred and it’s staying up in a corner. I have shut off the lights. How do I stop this madness. The main aggressor is a grouper followed by the trigger.

Give it a few days. Pretty normal. Once the pecking order is established things should be ok.

So you have an acclimation box that you could either put the new addition in while the others visually get used to his presence ? Or you could put the main aggressor in the acclimation box while the angel gets used to it’s new home. Doesn’t have to be an acclimation box. Anything to just separate the tank for a bit such as an egg crate cut to size to fit. Cheap and easy to do

You can be patient - or get an acclimation box. I have never used an acclimation box - instead opting for patience. Sometimes changing the rock work even slightly will help get rid of the territorial tendencies of the other fish.... Pretty angel

A centropyge (dwarf) angel ought not to be kept with grouper or triggers, generally.

To help with aggression social acclimation boxes as mentioned are a great tool. Also, adding new fish about 30 minutes before lights out can help give the new fish a chance to rest up. Everyone will be “loopy” in the AM when they meet again and it seems to lead to better results IME.
