I got my CB about two weeks ago and I just realized in the last few days he's developed some fuzzy white patches on his body. I also see dusty little dots all over him. I think he may have ich? He is eating fine and all, but I'm not sure how long he's gonna be ok like this. Thx in advance.

That looks like a pretty cruddy case of Lymph to me. At least those larger white pieces are anyway. This part has me worried though

. I dont see evidence of this, but it sounds like your describing classic velvet. Again though, I can't see that in the pictures. Is he breathing heavy? Swimming into the flow of a powerhead? Hiding a lot more than normal? When did it start? How quickly can you set up a QT?

He is breathing fast. I have a QT set up already. He's had this for the last week and since it hasn't really effected his behavior I let it be. But it seems to be getting more abundant on his skin so I'm afraid it may be a matter of time before the symptoms become more. He does swim into the flow of powerhead but he's also very active as well.

Maybe I'll try to get a video of him when I return home to provide a better pic.

Yeah I just can't see the dusty appearance. Those larger bits are Lymph, but the rest sounds like velvet. Read the link posted by humblefish. It's got some great info for you. You'll want to pull all the fish and QT as instructed in the link. Keep us posted on how it goes! good luck and act as quickly as you can.

Thank you Meredith. The Angel is now isolated in the quarantine tank. I had to take my tank apart just to catch him:confused:

Now, I read at your links the Lymphocyst disease is not really treatable but you just have to wait till it goes away. So do I just observe him until the condition clears up?

Also, do we know for sure he has Velvet? Because I don't want to over stress him with medication that he may not need.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

Velvet is the reason for getting all the fish out. I would advise quick action here and treating no matter what. Of course, you can always just wait and see... if the fish start dying pretty quick then we know it was velvet. For now we can't be absolutely sure about it. We are making an educated guess based on your description of the symptoms. Lymph probably won't kill him unless it starts growing over the gills or mouth.

Well, in light of the uncertainty about whether my angel has velvet or only Lymph, I went ahead and put him in a quarantine tank. At that point he was eating fine and pretty active. So I started the Cupermine treatment per instructions. I dosed it till .25 the first day, and 48 hours later I turned it up to .45. The following day my Angel was dead! What gives? It says on the bottle to bring it up til 5 with max of .8. I wasn't even at the recommended level yet. [emoji19]

Oh no!! Yes, angels need kid gloves when it comes to copper.... especially cupramine which can be harsher than some other brands. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

I've actually had better luck with angels overall in cupramine than coppersafe and chelated copper, I've gotten probably 3 dozen through without losing more than one. Coppersafe on the other hand has claimed a couple regals and a flame but I'm not sure it was coppersafe to blame for certain yet, I think I too increased it too quickly and at least one of those regals was somewhat lethargic upon arrival.

The big killer in qt with copper is ammonia and ammonia detoxifiers used at the same time to combat it (prime and amquel for example) DO NOT USE THEM WITH COPPER. (Not yelling at anyone I just want to ensure the casual readers know not to use these products at all with copper as it will all but guarantee the death of your fish).
