I was wondering if I can put a coral beauty or flame angel in a 30 gallon? its 3 feet long so i was wondering if its ok?

Because the tank is 3 feet I think you can, although some people think a 4 foot long tank is minimum for a dwarf angel.

Another important consideration is that the coral and flame especially can be quarrelsome with other tank-mates, this is going to be heightened significantly by a smaller size tank with less open space and hiding spots. I'd be cautious of that.

We recommend a tank of at least 70 gallons. We have one in a 60-cube that is doing great. If you were to try to add one to a 30 gallon, we would recommend getting a smaller sized dwarf angel, be sure it has plenty of live rock to graze on and hide in, and know that as it gets bigger, you may need to move it to a larger tank. The smaller the tank, the more likely you will be to have aggression issues with other livestock in the tank. Hope that helps!

Agree with Aqua above. I've kept a Coral Beauty in a 40 breeder and felt it was too small. I picked it up on the smaller side (young) and while it did well it used every inch of the tank.

Starcki damsel fish is a good alternative if you want to take a look at that and it fits in with your other fish. Pygmy's angelfish are pretty for sure but I would say larger tank is required based on my experience of owning one. it is in my 210 now and again uses every inch of it from left to right and top to bottom.

I wouldn't, they really utilize alot of real estate and will be very aggressive in a smaller tank. Although still pushing the boundaries of a tank too small, check out the pygmy cherub angel. I kept one in a bc29 for years and he was a wonderful fish, seemed very happy. Great personality, very active, and I think very good looking.

I had my Coral Beauty in a 45 gallon QT tank for about 1 month and he was starting to get very aggressive. I moved nim to another 45 gallon with less fish and live rock to hide and after about a week he chose his territory and got very aggressive. He even started attacking my Purple Tang.

After a couple months of QT, (because he had internal parasites that took a while to get rid of) I finally moved him to my 160 gallon DT and he has not showed any signs of aggression since. He swims the entire length of the 6 foot tank back and forth and picks on the rocks all day long. That was actual proof to me that the, "recommendations" of minimum tanbk size by the experts should be followed as closely as possible.

that seems good for them. I have a coral beauty in my 30 gallon mini reef 120 and its quite happy however mine is still small and I am planning a larger tank
