I found this unique looking angel fish labeled as a queen angelfish, however I do not think its a queen and have been unsuccessful at identifying her species!
Does anyone have any ideas? Notice the horn or fin on the head

It looks like the fins along the top of the body are either deformed, or ripped. It may have had a piece taken out of it in the wild while smaller and thats just how it healed.... but it still looks like a juvi queen, may end up some kind of variant, may be deformed, may be transitioning from juvi to adult.

Im defiantly thinking some kind of deformation, probably not a rip, if i took a cleaner pic it looks very natural and clean, not torn. I got him at a good deal and he's just a baby right now, He's also one of the healthiest fish I've ever encountered. Hardly showing any signs of stress, and eating a lot of food readily.

Sorry, by ripped I meant like an aged rip (nip/tear/ chunk removal by predator....) it received in the wild, not a fresh rip that would still be tattered. But yeah eventho the pic is a little "off" it does still look like a fairly well healed injury, and an older one (or deformation). All in all I would say it is a nice looking juvi angel, I do like the more yellow queens personally so to me its a good score even with the possible deformation..... which it is still young so who knows if it will stay like that, but likely it will not fully correct itself IMO.

I wouldn't think you should have any special issues with that area, but angels are prone to flukes. Also, what size tank do you have it in as they do get fairly big and quite aggressive.

He's in a my 46 euro by him self right now, but he's tiny at the moment, when we got him we knew he's gonna get huge, and this is the fish that finally got my girl friend to really love my salt hobby so she has agreed to get a bigger tank for him when he gets bigger. Took years to do that!
But when I got him I moved all the fish out into my coral only tank( now a fish stocked reef!) and left a big ole hermit in there with him

Yeah it will definitely need a much larger tank, atleast a 180g. They are pretty bossy, and will establish their territory and maintain it quite well. Even at its small size it may feel "cramped" in that 46 already as they are powerful swimmers and like to swim alot as well so the sooner the better for an upgrade, even if it is just like a 4' 120 for a year or so.... but honestly I would save the hassle and money (of doing another upgrade in the future, and buying equipment that will likely need to be changed to something different for a larger tank) and go with a 180 or bigger sooner rather then later. ;)
