Angry Duncan

So what would cause my little Duncan to go down this road.

It’s been in for 2 months and was nice and up until just the last week or two.

Nitrates - 3
Phosphate - .05
Salinity 1.25
Alk -9.5-10
Calcium - 450
Ph - 8.1

I’m fighting a bit of the ugly stage at the moment. The tank is about 6 months old.

I haven’t changed anything since I put it in there. I don’t have a magnesium test at the moment.

Also the flow is pretty moderate.

Mag might be the problem since it’s unknown. Dk you mix your own salt or buy pre made?

Mix my own. I’ll get a mag test and see what’s there. I use all for reef to keep the alk and calcium consistent.

Box says mag should be about 1240 so might not be the problem unless the tank is well stocked with other corals growing and consuming mag.

I guess that could be it too, my Duncan is currently pretty content at 7 nitrates and .03 phos

I have been trying to spot feed it reef chili and mysis shrimp, but no changes. I feed the tank twice a day. Should I feed more or just dose nitrates?

This is the only coral I have in it. I’m moving very slowly in the process.

Feed more, get more fish, reduce the photoperiod of your refugium (if you have one), take off your skimmer cup... Lots of ways to add nutritients or stop reducing them...
