Help what is this algae I have had my tank for a year and this algae has been in the tank for almost 4-5 months how do I get this stuff out. How long will it stay for. Should I use chemicals to fight it off. Will I need to restart please help. Maybe it’s because I am using artificial rock not live rock.

Most likely diatoms. Have you tried blasting with a turkey baster? Do they disperse?

Not much you can do, happens in all new tanks - they're self limiting to the supply of silica, most likely in sand. Are you using RODI water? All you can do is make sure your water source doesn't have silica at this stage.

Yeah, as stated, all normal. If you start resorting to chemicals (or worse) rebooting now, you will be in for an endless fight against algae. It will work itself out. Just make sure you have a sufficient CUC and keep the tank as clean as possible.
