Annoying green hair algae, how can I remove it?

I’ve had green hair algae for some time now and it is very annoying, I clean my tank and scrub the algae with a brush weekly, it reappears after some days quickly. What can I do to get rid of it once and for all?

What methods of nutrient removal do you already have in place?

Find the source of the extra nutrients. Then manually pull and get a good clean up crew for it. Depends a lot on tank size and occupants before I suggest a specific crew.

I was going through the same problem the week ago until I broke my tank down and received my WB and did a transfer. Nitrates was at 4 and phosphorus was reading zero. So obviously I didn't have a nutrient problem, something else was going on.

How long has your system been running?
Describe water chemistry, levels and day to day flux in those levels.
Poor water chemistry is the chief contributor to pest algaes.

Turbos do like to munch on hair algae but then they run out of food. Wonder if you can borrow a couple from anyone.

For manual removal I use a small wooden dowel and zip tie a small round tube cleaning brush and then bring it into the hair algae and spin the brush around in the algae so that it grabs the algae and then when you get the brush full of hair algae you just pop it out.

I was there not too long ago and tried everything, the CUC with urchins and a fighting conch. Then I brought in a hippo tang. Then I added an algae turf scrubber. I'd brush the tank clean and was pretty fastidious about it.
