In the past two weeks I've been having a ton of problems in my reef, ever since I got my coral shipment in from aquarium depot.
- Zoanthid Fungus I'm dealing with now
- Maybe cyano
- Huge boost in diatoms (I never scrub the sides or back of my aquarium as I feel it's a good reserve if my snails/copepods run out of food, but it keeps growing on my front wall and it is really really hard to scrub off)
- some annoying algaes in my sand and rocks that is the biggest problem (algae-wise, if the zoa fungus spreads then I'll be in trouble) that is reddish brown
- Light algae in a low flow area that is semi fluffy and is annoying my ricordea
My Solutions so far:
- Change out carbon
- add 3 random little snails
- I had to remove my turbo snail because he was knocking down my new frags
- Surgery and dipping on my infected zoas
- Replace my poly-filter
- 20% water change
- Running refugium for longer than normal (my fuge system is custom and not perfect so it's not always running to the aquarium [mainly because I want to get a good pod population for my corals to eat])
My Solutions in-progess
- I have a shipment of another Current USA light and another Current USA wavemaker (to boost the flow) coming Monday
My Solution ideas
- Replace my other filter medias (will try to do today)
- Maybe it's time for a new UV bulb?
- Add more snails (I only have 3 small ones)
- My hermits don't seem to be doing anything to help, should I add more?
I'll check the parameters today and post here, hopefully that will help with any suggestions/solutions. I really should have checked 3 days ago but I've been busy and was going to last night but instead spent an hour dealing with that stupid fungus.
