Annoying tunze alarm

So can I not utilize an ato how I would like to? Or what do you want me to do.
I would just put the ato hose in the sump section before the return pump not many steps ahead. Filter socks also mess up ato levels. All these things slow down flow. And that’s the problem why the new water isn’t registering with the sensor, it takes forever to flow through to the whole system.

So knowing this would you still advise against me having it just turn on periodically to top off?

Yea because it will always add 15 seconds of water otherwise. It’s meant to be like a set it up and forget kind of thing.
 
Use the 3155 the way it was designed to operate and you won’t have any problems. It seems your issues with alarms and overfilling are caused by your insistence upon using a timer.

Address your siphon issue by making sure the outlet tube of the ATO is higher than the water level of the ATO reservoir and run the 3155 the way it was intended and you won’t have any issues.

If you insist on running it your way, you can open the controller of the 3155 and turn off the audible alarm and also turn down the speed of the pump by turning the potentiometer in the controller all the way left thereby slowing down the pump speed so it pumps less water during the 15 second auto fill.
 
OR, buy a level sensor to suit the Profilux and let it do it all. Seems silly to me to have a Profilux and not use it for what it is made for. I have one and it does everything flawlessly including auto water changes.
 
I just don’t see people having or understanding my problem. When my water level is correct, the sump water level is lower because there has been a buildup in the siphon to allow it to silence. My ato tries to copy that and fills say 2 inches of water but the water doesn’t stay in the return it gets pumped up and into the display where it sits to continue the loop. This causes the water level to rise in my display towards the rim, whilst not raising in the return section.

The water then sits in either my display, my overflow box waiting to flow down where it split half to filter cup with poly fil the other half going to my Fuge. So like despite having the water level raise it’s not where I want it to. That’s why I assumed the times top off was just as good as an auto top off.
 
So I have a tunze ato and just hooked it up to my P4 to have it be controlled to go on for 60s 4x a day to top my tank off. It’s working well but the only annoyance is the annoying beep beep beep that comes on everytime the ato turns on. I currently have it set to off at all times and then the controller turns it on and then it begins to fill the tank then shuts off. Any way I can shut the noise off alltogether? I know I can modify when it makes noise but now it does it as soon as it turns on
So as water dog says you can open it up and turn off the alarms and the adjust the pump speed for your tank size. First make sure that the unit is working and set up properly.

So I originally did open it up and try to adjust it.. my whole reasoning for this post was to see if there was a way for me to shut the startup alarm off all together.

I think my ato is working correctly. I just think if anything I would have to put the top off sensor into my display? Maybe I’m the only person that has to silence the overflow with gatevalves
 
You can’t pick and choose what alarm to turn off on the 3155. To turn off all audible alarms, see page 48 & 49 of the user manual.

Putting the level sensor in the display will accomplish nothing as the water level is dictated by your weir /overflow and remains constant. In a sumped system, the only area where water fluctuates will be the return section. That’s the only place your ATO sensor should be.

The Tunze 3155 is one of the most reliable ATO systems on the market. It has an optical sensor, backup float and 10 minute timeout as failsafes. It seems to me that all of your issues with the system are self inflicted. I ran my 3155 for years with my Apex with no issues. Let the ATO run as an ATO with no interference from your controller and your issues will go away.
 
Also, in reading your last post, your system isn’t balanced. Your overflow cannot handle the amount of water being pushed up by your return pump. You need to either valve down the speed of your return pump (if AC) using a gate valve or dial it down via controller (if DC). That will give you stability in your return chamber. I think this is the main problem with your system currently.
 
I am with water dog... if you cannot keep your system running at a stable level, then it will not work with, or without an ATO. Sounds like the overflow is too small and you are pumping too much water.

FWIW - I let the Tunze 3155 pump water into my display with about a 3" gap between the hose and the top of the water with no chance of siphon.

I had the same problem with both my Tunze and Ice cap ATO. I finally took my Icecap apart and removed the buzzer. I can tell when the reservoir needs refilling by the sound the pump makes

Finally someone with a similar problem and not just telling me everything I’ve done thus far and it’s my fault the flows aren’t equaling and yada yada yada. I legit just was curious about removing all audible alarms.. that was it. Not all systems are the same and if I can only get x amount of flow down my overflow to prevent splashing and gurgling sounds then so be it.
