Another Algae Problem Thread

Your response/suggestion posits a solution which costs which me no money and no time and therefor, by its very nature, couldn't possible be correct or even helpful. [emoji6]
Regardless, I shall ponder what you've said here.

Of course not. I would dump in a bunch of chemicals and stand back so you can throw a bunch of money in there. Then hit it with a blow torch while adding snails, urchins, slugs and my personal favorite, Manatees. It's one inch of manatee for 20 gallons of water :D

Any algae the manatees don't actually eat can easily be scraped off their backs later.

See, now you're making some sense!! I'm all over that solution [emoji6]

I do completely agree/understand that some algae is desirable and healthy. The problem is that it's encroaching on my coral which might very well be the correct and natural order, but I paid for these frags, not Mother Nature and I need for nature to chill and back off the frags.
I hope you can appreciate responses mixed with sarcasm and still see the point. Purely textual communication has pitfalls and without tone it can be taken in ways other than intended. For awhile I used italics to denote sarcasm, but nobody got it ☹️

I am all for simple solutions.
This thread is about a solution looking for a problem

I was kidding. See previous post.

EDIT: how could you possibly take those responses so seriously?! Emojis are generally utilized to denote a sense of playfulness. This forum can be BRUTALLY without humor/fun sometimes.

I actually know that. :D How could you possibly take my response to your response so serious  Almost none of my responses to any post are serious. (notice my liberal use of Emojis? )

Okay, last week I added the DI filter. Over the course of four days, I did three large water changes, 45g at a time with the RO/DI water. It's still early to really say with certainty, but it absolutely seems to have made a big difference. I also added the snails and pods. I'll post again in another week or so with more definitive answer. I'll take a photo in a bit for comparison. Thanks!
