Ok so I am trying to program the feed buttons. When the button is depressed the pump turns off. However if I cancel sometimes it will restart the pump and other times the unit locks up and I need to reboot the controller. Any thoughts?

What command did you use to shut the pump off? What firmware version are you using?

If you are using the Neptune feeder try deleting the module and re-adding it. I find this usually fixes weird errors. Did you program via just Fusion or did you try through the browser based? I find sometimes Fusion when I program can be a little glitchy, worse so on the app if I used it. So I like to troubleshoot through the browser based option. It is less clunky so to speak. Also try different browsers just in case it is an incompatibility issue with a browser. Like IE, Firefox or Chrome. Check your programming on your outlet to make sure it matches what you have set for the feeder itself.
Is that a virtual switch you programmed or did you program the physical outlet itself? If it is not a virtual one try one first and see if it fixes the issue.

Also try another plug. Some of the power plugs are silent solid state and the other are switched with relays. What plug you use does effect what you can plug into the outlet. If you have your sump pump on the wrong kind of plug I have seen weird errors happen this way. Look in the below link under the outlets section in the EB8 manual if you are unsure of the plug types and for examples of what can be plugged into them.

I think I need to call tech support. This am I started a feed cycle. After it timed out nothing started and the controller was locked up. Needed to reboot the system. I suspect that there is a corruption in the software. I will probably need to reset the controller

That is possible. Before you call or wipe your controller (last resort) delete the module and re-add it then update the module firmware. To update the firmware for the module that is done from the browser as Fusion will not be able to do it. Tech Support will ask you to do it anyway so you might as well speed things up and do it first. I like to do a full backup of my config files of my apex before I mess with anything. At least you can import it back in if needed instead of manually configuring everything. If you are really worried about it being corrupt you can do a module by module backup if I remember correctly instead of a full backup so you can choose what to restore and what not to.

If you are doing the Apex firmware unhook everything from the network and hardwire the Apex into your router. Do not attempt to wireless do it. Alternately I like to download the firmware from the link below and save it onto the laptop\PC then directly plug the apex into the laptop\PC. Disconnect the wireless on the laptop to avoid issues. The Apex doesn't route very well so it is best to limit the possible destinations by unhooking things. This will cut down on the chances of corrupting the firmware during installation. The below link has a how to and video and I would suggest you read it and watch the video before doing anything. Honestly if you follow the steps above or in the doc it is quiet easy. Even if it is a little nerve wracking to do it for the first few time. lol If you don't feel comfortable doing it call Tech support and they should be able to walk you through it. I only update my firmware of the apex as a last resort after I have tried all the above options.

This link is for directly connecting the apex to your PC\Mac.

Let us know how it turns out. :)
