Is there a difference in power between the vortech and icecap batteries? I will be running 2 maxspect xf230s off of the icecap, but if the vortex is a bigger batter maybe I should go that way? My second question is I just purchased an Apex WiFi to upgrade my Jr. I wanted to add a ups so I would have some surge protection, limited battery backup to send messages, and a way to clean up generator power when I am using that during a power outage. (My internet typically stays up and the router is on a ups) can I use the ups and the ice cap or vortech together? Where would I plug the icecap battery in? I understand that a ups would not be adding much time, but with the ability to tell the apex to shut down pretty much everything and keep only my gyre outlet on and maybe an emergency jebao in the sump I may be able to add a few hours before the icecap or vortech battery has to kick in. I have a generator as well. The battery is to pass the time until the generator can be set up and for small power blips.
. Power outages are very common because of all the trees over the power lines. Spring winds drop a lot of limbs. Also, we have had so much rain, it really makes all the shallow rooted pines very unstable. Rita & Ike hit us hard a few years back. I’m so glad I didn’t have a tank during those beasts. It was 100 degrees every day with no power for 9 days. I did keep my generator going off & on but the fish would have cooked as hot as it was in the house. Gas was also hard to come by due to Katrina hitting NOLA a few weeks earlier. I guess we can prepare all we want and think we have everything covered but sometimes Mother Nature has a different idea. I’m leaving today to go out of town for 11 days and it really stresses me out! My brother is going to keep an eye on things but he really knows nothing about fish. If something goes wrong, he won’t even be able to call. Me being very rural on the Texas/Louisiana border, there’s not many reefers near by. Good luck!
