To me it looks like a G.graphurus female can you get another front on shot?

EDIT: It's 110% not a peacock lol...

Did the listing specify O. scylarrus?

I had this same problem with LA years ago and waited past their guarantee time to get my $$$ back so they wouldn't do anything about it.

I should add that a lot of judgements on species often begin from an Australian perspective and I know 2 good examples for species that are easy to overlap.

Gonodactyloids (they be the 80-120mm species) are very common in Australia, however another major group that looks very similar are the Neogonodactyloids(40-70mm) which I don't believe are actually found in Australia, at least none that I've ever encountered.

Neogonodactyloids are what is common in America I believe, whilst Gonodactyloids are considered rare(at least you GET them both!) on the basis of people on forums being SO EXCITED when acquiring a G.smithii (the 1st/2nd most common mantis found in Australia as hitchhikers).

The 2 groups look remarkably the same except for minor details.

I've found that a lot of fish shops that sell them under false names and spoken to about the species; fall under the "safety blanket" as "We bought it under that name from our supplier", this also "justifies" the price. I've seen the most common species G.smithii(in Australia Aquariums) at only 50mm being sold for $100 on the basis it was a "Peacock/O.scyllarus".

Sadly this is true and I have often feigned foolishness to gouge the level of intelligence and 'lies' of stores that label all as peacocks and their reasoning for doing such.

It must be a recent thing because five to ten years ago I could get a real peacock from three different places at once. LA always had them show up on the diver den, healthy big ones too! Thats where the one in my avatar came from

Yea if you do a google search you can access the page for peacock mantis and get on the waiting list. I called them and they gave me a full refund plus free shipping on my next order! This is the first issue Ive ever had with them. My last peacock came from them several years ago
