i looked through this forum and found quite a few threads people started about their clownfish acting strangely but none of them answered my question.

I have hair a pair of davinci clowns in my tank for a month now and 3 days ago one of them stopped hanging out with the other one and now it just sits in a small cave in the rock work. It will come out and eat but it is definitely not very active like it was. It will literally hover in one place for minutes and then SLOWLY move and inch away. Doesn't seem like typical behavior but thought I would see if anyone has suggestions so I don't do nothing if I should have.

All my other fish/corals look fine. All params look good too.
Ammonia/nitrate/nitrite: zero

Yes. I have 1 other clownfish. They hung out clear up until this point.
I took this because it is way easier to see than to explain.

Hard to say but looks to me like it's chosen that spot in the rock as a host

Here is a video of the clown when it came out. Almost looks like it's gills may be enflamed?

Looks fine to me, mine sometimes looks like it's getting sucked into the intake and is basically dead. It perks up once the lights come on though. I would prefer it do what yours is.

So the clown didn't eat yesterday and isn't eating today either. It does look like it is having a little harder time breathing today too. Are there any treatments that I could do as a precautionary measure?

[HASHTAG]#reefsquad[/HASHTAG] need one of our disease/parasite folks to have a look at this please.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help Lyscer but the first video looked like normal behavior to me. The second video combined with additional symptoms does not. Hopefully getting the reefsquad disease/parasite folks will get you the help you need.

Worth asking but when was the last time you added somebody new?

They were the last addition and were added on July 8th

I had a similar thing happen with a pair of clowns that I added to a fallow tank a while back. Lost one within 24 hours after showing the heavy breathing and kind of lonerish behavior in the corner of the tank. After that I put the other one in a hospital tank and started treating for parasites in the gills (my assumed diagnosis). That one lasted less than 24 hours in the hospital tank and kicked the bucket the following night.

Hopefully you have better luck.

Here's another video where you can see him breathing what I think is faster than the other clown and you can see him fighting to stay upright.

Maybe he has the mario theme song stuck in his head and is singing it....

Anyone see a problem with doing a hyposalinty treatment? I am thinking that the lower salinity with help with oxygenation. My DT is currently at 1.025

Just as an update I came home from work today to find my little friend dead. Looks like I didn't diagnose quickly enough. I did learn a lot so thank you for all of the help. I will definitely know what to look for in the future. RIP little clownfish.

Sorry we couldn't get you some help sooner Lyscer. I believe the main disease guy in on vaca atm so folks are doing their best to try to cover for him. I saw your post asking for meds, and I think having a supply of a variety of different things is a very good first step. Sorry again for your loss.
