Hello fellow reefers,
I recently transferred my 75 to a 150. About 30 lbs of new rock went in that was cycled in a tub with other live rock from the tank for a month. Everything was successful and I have yet to loose any livestock. The new tank has been running for about 2 months now. Corals have been growing rapidly. I have an algae outbreak that has been getting out of control since the transfer. I originally thought it was GHA, but now I am not sure. It has been really starting to take over this past week.
My nutrients have been very low since the transfer. Nitrates at zero and phosphates at .01 via Hannah ULR. I am running a fuge with cheato. Reef octo 220 skimmer.
Parameters:
Alk - Stable 8.8
Calcium 400-420
Mg 1300
(BRS 2 part dosing)
Temp 78.5
Nitrates - 0
Phosphate - .01
Salinity 1.026
Running 36 watt UV
I started to does nitrates as my nutrients were consistently so low, and I am feeding HEAVY and using Red Sea AB+ aminos. Turned my fuge down to only a couple hrs a night and I don't run my skimmer 24/7. When I stared to does nitrates I had an INSANE cyano outbreak that covered the entire tank and sump. Pulled that back and cyano cleared relatively quickly. I need to clean the glass every other day so I know there is some kind of "nutrients" in the water. Macro algae in the fuge grows quickly. Some SPS corals are pale and washed out. Others are fully colored and all corals in the tank are growing.
I have been blessed to never have dealt with Dinos in my years of reefing so I don't know exactly what I am looking for, but here are some pics. I do not think this is bryopsis. It is very stingy and has bubbles every now and then. Comes off the rock easily with a tooth brush. feels slimy.
Dinos?
Thanks in advance everyone,
- Paul
