Ive been recovering from my first tank crash... A litterall crash of water as the bottom broke out of my 40g breeder. All in all I lost my two Wyoming white clownfish, but everything else including Coral has survived including my prized top crown snail.

Just like a forest fire, it's made way for a new tank with 3/4 glass on the bottom and a proper overflow, I'll be reusing my old sump but I'm going to redesign the baffels to be more efficient use of my space. I've spent the last week or so planning out and prototyping different designs, and have finally settled on a system that will work best.

Specifically I want my refugium to be unaffected from other forms of filtration to give pods and chaeto on restricted access to nutrients, and still want room for a skimmer and media rack. So I've thought about splitting the drain pipe to divert flow to the refugium and skimmer and use valves to regulate the flow between both. With both overflowing through baffels into the center pump chamber. I'll have a filter sock on my drain pipe going into the skimmer chamber but not one where it dumps into the refugium.

I'm hoping to bounce these plans off everyone and see about problems that I may run into that I haven't accommodated for in my plans. I've attached some pictures to help visualize what I want to achieve.

Any input is appreciated!
