Just one more question. How long does the DT need to be without fish in order to break the cycle?

Flukes generally don’t have a fallow period but treatment will be roughly 20 days for which you will have display fishless
Flukes are actually worms

Curious - (for my and everyone else education) - seems to me - if you treated with Prazipro - until all of the eggs hatch - it would eliminate them?

Praziquantel is pretty short-lived in marine systems, and then, degrading bacteria soon grow that consume it even faster. Generally, I don't expect any activity after 72 hours in a new tank, and less than 12 hours in tanks that have been dosed with it in the past.

It depends on the species of fluke, and in some cases, the length of time the eggs can remain viable simply isn't known. The one fluke I know about (Neobenedenia, not the species involved here) will in theory, die out within 14 days of no host, but I always give in 35 days, just to be safe.

Wouldn't that suggest a shorter dosing interval?

No - you need to try and catch the eggs as they hatch and the larva reattach, but before those flukes mature to the point of laying eggs themselves. The sweet spot seems to be 8 or 9 days, but it likely varies a bit depending on the species involved and the water temperature.

nice fish and appreciate your concern and again great that you caught it early
Best of luck setting up the treatment tank that can transition to QT later
Where you are do you use Sea Water?

I did use sea water in my tanks in the past but I stopped because I always had concerns. Now I am importing instant ocean and preparing myself with RODI.

Quick question everyone, prazi instructions say that 1 teaspoon per 20 gal. According to Google that's 4.9ml. I have 12 gallon QT so that will be about 3ml, right?

Yes, 2.94 ml. Bear in mind though, that your 12 gallon tank may just be rated at that volume and the amount of water it actually holds could be less. What you do is measure the inside width, length and water depth in inches. Divide that by 231 and you will have US gallons. If the tank has a lot of decorations in it, you need to subtract for their displacement, 15% is a good estimate for tanks with rocks.

My convict tang has always done this and initially I was very worried, but, after some research, looks as though they are known for it. Hoping the best for your tank!

I bought two 12-gallon tanks because I didn't want the tangs in the same tank to reduce aggression. All fish are out tanks to Nyos fish trap and they're already under prazi treatment. I've tried to feed them and they seem that are not interested. Is this normal? They don't look stressed at all, they're not breathing heavily. But I'm worried that they stopped eating since being introduced to QT. Any advice?

Be sure to aerate tanks well during prazi treatments, and of course, in small tanks like this, monitor ammonia.

Update: Ammonia is being monitored by the API saltwater test kit. The fish are showing interest in eating flake food only. They aren't eating a lot I am siphoning out all leftovers. 1 tank has a sponge filter and the other has a HOB filter. 5 days have passed since I started the prazi dose and I am starting to see them scratching again in QT. I am going to assume that this is normal.

Update: First water change and tank cleanout done after the first Prazi dose. All fish are eating but tangs have more appetite than the others. They are actually eating a lot of nori. While I was doing the water change I noticed what appeared dead worms in the bottom of the qt. I syphoned most of the water out and cleaned the tank. Filled again with same temp, salinity and same prazi dose and they will be there for 8-9 days more. Thanks everyone :)

Update: While looking at the fish I noticed my scopas with white spots. He is not breathing heavily or anything. Is this ICH? I already have copper and hanna copper according to last BRS QT series. This should arrive here on monday. Screen Shot 2022-05-27 at 1.19.46 PM.png Screen Shot 2022-05-27 at 1.19.29 PM.png Screen Shot 2022-05-27 at 1.19.37 PM.png

Can you post a short video? I'd like to get a better view, and try and also judge its respiration rate. Sometimes, you'll need to upload it to youtube and then link it here....

Got home late today and everything is dark. Had to use a flashlight. Here you go:

I just received the notification that the copper power and Hanna test is here by tomorrow. Please let me know if I should do any change with the QT process. Should I stop the Prazi treatment and start with copper? They're already in the second Prazi dose. Next Wednesday should start the third dose.

Please see the pictures of the stuff I found when doing the water change and cleaning the tank: Is this actually flukes? There were multiple of them.
