I my 180 im running 2 4k icecap gyres. The flow is on 90% daytime and 30% nighttime. The deal is that I have a vlamingi tang that drops some bombs. When they hit the sand, they stay there like a brick. Should I have so much flow that it blows them apart?

I would guess the drop in flow which is quite large would be more of an issue for ph etc.

but it’s been reduced, that will lead to changes? A bit of poo should not need a reduction like that.
So I should raise my nighttime flow? That would actually keep the ph from swinging? I've been doing this for years but still learning

ph nearly always drops at night, that is why I think reducing the flow is probably not a good idea for the reason you say you do it, not reducing it could help with your ph, gas exchange etc

Just seems to me you have more to loose from this than gain...not that it’s a major issue but maybe not a good move.

Why drop flow at night? Is it to strong for your fish to rest? I have a mp10 on my tank 100% on reef crest mode 24/7 return is 925 is gph just about

his tang drops a big poo at night, he is worried it’ll break up and cause issues.

O. In that Casey the you don't want to even talk flow you wanna talk biology. If you have significant bacteria you are good. The tank is adjusted to dealing with the bio load if you have not added anything new for a wail. If you still are unsure of bacteria to bio load you can add more live rock or bio balls to rest assured your fish can poop in peace.
One recommendation I have regarding pH mentioned above. I highly highly recommend running a algae scrubber cleaner tank less swing at night. A huge win win
