What is your cleanup crew like? What things have you tried so far? What kind of lighting? How old are the bulbs? Where are your phospates at?

as of now, large yellow tang, lawnmower blenny, this is a bb system, been setup many years, always had this issue, bulbs are not a year old yet, 150 mh and two 24w atinics....sump is for equipment for now,,,lfs did a full panel they said, everything was perfect, lighting times are 10hr day, atinics 1/2 hr before mh, and 1/2 after mh goes out, its a 46 or 48 gal conner tank with a 15 gal sump, due 10 gal water change every other week, with water from the lfs...

I would verify the phosphates with something like a hannah tester that will do a more precise job than the test kits from API, Salifert, etc. Something is feeding the algae. Are you possibly over feeding? Have you tried throwing in some turbo snails?

i just give very little small spectrum pellets, they get eating very fast....

if something is feeding the algae, why is it only on certian lr, and not all over the other lr

I've noticed that excessive algae growth in one particular location can sometimes be due to what type of flow is hitting that area. In other words it is the first set of rocks down stream from either your return or powerheads.

Questions:
Are you using anything to filter your water? All you mentioned was a sump, but no comments regarding carbon, or skimmers, or anything.
Can your LFS check their new RO/DI water to determine if there is a TDS issue?
Do you think that having a very large yellow tang in a 46/48 corner tank may be the problem?

If it's only that rock I would take the rock out. There could be something in the rock that leaches out and causes that problem. Seems odd that it would only happen to one rock.

anyone know what type of aglae this is?

anyone have an issue with this statment,my green algea is because its food source is the Nitrate being produced by bacteria and since it is the only algae present it takes all thats available. If you put a nice clump of macro like Chaeto in the sump with a 24hr light schedule it will out compete it for food and it will slowly fade away.is it just that easy, i have nothing in my fuge....
