I'm hoping its a keeper,

Isopod - bad hitchhiker. I would get rid of it. That's a big one! Wow.

We are so lucky to have access to this knowledgeable information and such quick responsees , thank you, .ill be keeping it, it's got 28 more sleeps till it goes to DT

What about the foot though? The entire package seems to be a chiton, I agree the eye spots are odd but from that picture id go chiton. If we can get a picture of the eyespots up close and a shot at the foot?
Yeah good point. And if an isopod was that big would it be on the glass? Probably not. I just don't know of any chitons that have eyespots like that since they have eyes all around their edges

It's foots reflection is in the mirror behind it,I'll have to see about a better pic of the eyespots which may take a bit

It disappeared as soon as it makes itself available I'll try and get some good pics

Don't mean to distract but does anyone know what the sea cucumber ID is? I'd like to look that up. Just hobby name is fine. If that's native to the pacific and doesn't grow too large, I'd like to get one.

Chiton can have a variety of color patterns and sizes.
You just beat me to the idea of chiton - I hit submit and your message popped up!

I haven't seen that particular pattern on a chiton but fake eyespots are very common among insects so it would surprise me to be an anti-predator tactic ("look, I can see you" or "hey, I'm much bigger than you think").

On to the cucumber. Very nice. The only Pacific cuc I'm familiar with are the big, orange ones. This one looks a lot like them, just smaller. If that tank is over 100 gallons or so it might be worth trying to keep, it's really cool looking!

The last picture you can see the chiton's mouth opposite side of those eye spots.
