ok guys another yellow tang HLLE thread. Have had my reefer 450 going since April with no issues. My yellow tang, hippo tang, 2 clowns, purple dotty back and pajama cardinal all went through rigorous 90 day QT before going into the reefer and everyone is going great except the yellow tang. He started showing signs of HLLE right at the tail end of the QT which I wasn’t shocked by from treating him with Cooper for 30 days. Anyways his HLLE is not getting better and may even be slowwwwwly getting worse. Slight top fin recession along with losing his color and a white face. 30 lbs of miracle mud in the sump, I soak nori in selcon every day and make sure there’s enough to graze through out the day, and I also feed him rods food, frozen Mysis, formula 2 flakes, pe mysis flakes, spectrum pellets, and brightwell veggie flakes. I have no carbon running in the system and I have a ground probe in the tank and there’s no stray voltage. The hippo is doing great and growing by the day I swear but this yellow tang just wont make the recovery. I feel like I’m doing everything I can do and just not winning the HLLE fight. Is there anything else I can do? I’m afraid I’m gonna have to remove him and give him away. Thanks for the help guys.

Do you run carbon, and if so, do you rinse it well before use?

Try adding Zoecon to frozen food or soaking nori with it. Zebrasoma tangs often get HLLE from copper.

Zoecon is specifically designed for treating HLLE. The "going away process" is slow IME.

Aright I’ll give that a go, and I ordered the boyd vitachem as well so now I’ll have 3 different supplements and rotate them during the week and see if that improves him. Thanks

I second this, all of it.
