Another Ichy ichy ick story

Ok I was just reading a post about how bad tangs are and how all you have to do is look at them and they have ick....... I have a tang with ick, or it looks like it to me. I have 1 lavender tang 3 damsels and a sunburst anthia all with Ick. I want to put copper in there but I'm worried about the sunburst. Here's some pictures, these spots are on all of them But the anthia

Just on the ends of their fins. They keep swimming and it's hard to take a picture!

Unfortunately that looks more like velvet. Have you introduced anything to the tank recently?

That is my quarantine all new fish. I always quarantine. Do you really think that its velvet?? I've had them for a month and they just now showed signs of disease. I'm worried the sunburst won't do well with copper

Fresh water dip help with flukes and give temp relief from other thing. I’m not sure about velvet though, but I am not a disease guy.

It's just the way it goes... Unfortunately.

I'm not certain you have velvet, it could be - maybe try a FW dip and see what you get. Anthias have to be treated with copper as they certainly won't tolerate CP.

I have a few anthias in QT now. They are just lyretails but they are tolerating 2.0ppm copper just fine and eating like maniacs.

Some anthias do need a slow ramp up for copper and it's best to have them eating well before going therapeutic.

They are all eating well the tang just started showing symptoms about an hour ago I'm warm g water for a fresh water dip. What about Chloroquine phosphate. Should I use that as a treatment???

Just did a freshwater dip. If its ick sometimes I see it..... did not see any fall off and on closer look at the tang he has a ton of white spots all over him. None of them fell if. Its probably velvet which is a bummer. Didn't see any bad signs until today and I've been watching closely

Looks like ich to me, not velvet, but just my opinion. Start treating with dips and copper. Make sure to offer good food with garlic and you may want to do focus/metroplex incase of underlying bacterial infectiom.

Thanks guys I'm just super worried about my sunburst...... I've tried really hard to keep one. I did a freshwater dip now a dip in ich-x and then I'm going to use copper to finish off the treatment. Sunburst is not likening the dips. I'm also going to treat with antibiotics

Just an update for y'all. Not 100% sure but I think one of my new fish came infected with velvet. The reason I think its velvet is my tang has tons of little white spots that are hard to see and they didnt go away with a fresh water dip and then a formaldehyde(ich-x). Feel like velvet is way more common than it used to be. Everyone is still eating but the tang and anthia are in bad shape. Velvet is crazy fast at killing fish. I'm hopeful well se what happens

@HotRocks hey question, my tang was by far the worst out of everyone. Hes still breathing super hard and I found him lying on the bottom of the tank last night. Treating with cupramine, reached theropedic levels yesterday. Hes struggling pretty hard do you think I should do another freshwater dip or just let everything g run its course and see what happens. Hes swimming around right now

If you had a velvet affliction, then yes stay the course. Lots of oxygen by heavy surface agitation, healthy diet, pristine water are the best you can do right now.

@HotRocks Ok I think it was velvet because of the spots and the progression if the infection. I'm going to dip him again. I used a freshwater dip and then ich-x. I'm going to do that again. Thanks for your advice I really appreciate your expertise and experience in this hobby. Most of the time I loose against these diseases
