I've been reading more about amphipods, and there might be some sense to it... if tanks are starved. I am going to check my colonies, but here's my thinking on the topic. If polyps are consistently staying closed - something's consistently eating them, and I should be able to see them. I don't. :(

i could see amphipods being an issue more than copepods.

Im not sure if this helps but I know I have trouble growing the smallest zoas, like fruit loops. Cant get those to grow or even survive in my tank but all other palys and zoas grow like weeds. Same with torches....cant keep them but hammers do amazing. Have you noticed anything like that? Is there one specific species thats closed? Maybe thats the "pattern"

Aussie Gold Torches I cannot keep. Indo gold torch is doing great. Small zoas are fine tho.

Amphipod were the issue in my tank and I can assure you that mine are not starved, but there are definitely a lot.

@Lionfish Lair - I got another pic of the critter you were asking about, it's a much better bigger shot, but it wasn't moving, so there's no video.

I also think I might have another shot of it, small black one towards the middle of the picture. I have a video of this can, can I upload it somehow?

Under this disc was an infestation of what looks like bristle worms.

And one last favor to ask. Is this a cope pod or an amphipod?
