I got a NICE pack of Acros today from another site. I have names for most of them but one. I have told this was a Strawberry Shortcake but I feel this is wrong. If anyone has any idea on what this is please let me know.

looks pretty close to a SS, any particular doubts your having? Keep in mind SS's aren't a named coral (as in from one single colony) they're a variety, so there's going to be a lot of small variations between them.

AHHHHH I thought they were a NAMED coral.

Only ones that are "named" will have a name attached to them, like a tyree (not sure if he has his name on any SS's though) or a Billy Bob's SS or something.

But unless I'm mistaken, SS's are a grouping of similarly colored acro's (someone else will have to provide species, I'm not a good acro species guy) so they're not all going to be identical.

The "strawberry shortcake" is almost always a wild coral or frag. They are starting to show up as captive grown, but keep in mind that's still gen 1 for a captive coral and they have a long way to go before they are a hardy coral. As far as species your frag is too small to tell yet. From what I've heard they do best witha few weeks in med-low light untill they have regular PE then you can move them to higher light and they will color back up. GL with your frags.

It's either a shortcake or a shades of fall hard to tell with out the polyps extended... Get a shot with the polyps I would be able to tell better.... As for the shortcakes ya I have 3 different ones lol... The only one that has really nice Color and doing well in captivity I have had for a year I picked up from Ian "reef Oddysey" it's off the hook!!!!
