Randy or anyone that can help. I dose Kalk through my ATO as of now. My main reason for dosing Kalk is to keep my PH above 8.3. I bought a Kalk Stirrer and I want to buy a dosing pump to go along with it. I'm basically lost with the new set up. I calculated my tank evaporates 1.5 gallons a day. I want to set up something that doses basically 24 hrs a day. I don't have room for one of thoses big drippers people have. My question is:

1. what kind of doser should I get to meet these requirements?

2. Is it possible to set up a continuous drip with this new set up?

Please Help?!:(;Blackeye

To make it I easy for me I took my Tunze ATO pump and put it in my Rodi res. Then I fed the pump line into the stirrrer and put the outlet of the stirrer into a high flow area of my sump. My tank was dosed kalk every time if was topped off. I have a 180 and a medium size sump so the kalk disperses before hitting the tank at too high a ph/alk level.

I never measured exact dosing, I monitored ph, alk, and calcium per day in the tank for a few days to be sure it was not overdosing. If it does I reduce the amo7nt of kalk in the stirrer to weaken it, if it is low, I may add a bit to up the dosage.

Works for me, been doing it 5 years or so no issue. But it is for a mostly softies tank so no sps to worry about.

That was my initial plan but during the night my tank doesn’t evaporate much so my PH drops at night which is what I’m trying to avoid by having Kalk solution continuously be dosed

Ph will always drop at night. Dosing can help somewhat but I would not be too concerned. You can run a reverse photosynthesis period in your sump to help combat it. I have run and air stone and light in my sump during night hours to keep O2 levels up to help combat the drop.

But usually it is not a concern unless you PH drop and drops and does not come back up.
