Another lighting question

Any of the spotlight options are going to have to be very close to the tank in order to keep the light from blasting the room. Stick with 80º/90º lenses or tighter.....The Orbit Pro uses 60º lenses, which really makes it the preferred solution for this tank...at least in my opinion. One 48" Pro stick will do it.

I don't think an AP700 would work well at all on this long, narrow tank. You'd be far better off with four of the 160 pendants....but not sure they offer a narrow-lens option for those. If part of the objective is to get the fixture out of your way, off the tank, then I wouldn't even consider their wide options.

If you'd want to consider a DIY, this is one I've used a bunch of times (not my vid, though) and is extremely easy to deploy in an in-wall situation. Bulbs and sockets for a 55 gallon tank cost well-under $100. It's designed to be 12" off the tank.

Heres an updated pic of the tank setup. I can hang any light right from the joist above the tank. Next to the tank, I have a mini fridge/freezer for fish food and under tank I have sump and refugium from lifereef. Behind where I was standing are storage shelves and a utility sink I installed if I decide to add an ro system with auto top off...this is turning into a very expensive hobby...not as expensive as wife thinks

2 16in sbreeflights or mars aqua or reef brights, or photons.

you have to hang the 16in high for good coverage. the ap700 wont allow you the flexibility to higher light animals later if you want. Imo.

Agreed on the SB Reef lights. I have 2 32" lights on a 120 gal and they pump out some serious light and makes all my colors pop. Very powerful lights....take it easy....

I have 2 AI Hydra 26 HD over my 2 x 2 cube. I feel 2 is good for a 3 foot tank and 3 for a 4 foot tank. You can start with 2 and get a third if needed. I'm not completely happy with them and wished I got a T-5 fixture but it's rimless and I like the clean look.

Curious? It looks like the load of the wall above the tank is sitting on the tank. Will that be an issue?

I have the Kessil AP700. Absolutely no complaints. Upon initial release, there was issues with the phone app & there was no mounting bracket available, but now that it's been fixed...absolutely no complaints. Plenty of SPS growth and coloration. I have a birdsnest colony that has grown to the size of a volleyball.

I have 2 on my 300g tank, and will be buying a third since I mainly have SPS.

I'll post some pictures I took a month ago. I'll take new pictures of those same corals for growth comparison over the last month.

There actually is no weight from the wall being supported by the tank. The measurements are very close, about 1/16", but not close enough for any type of shifting the house may have against the tank glass.

Hey mpjmeyer, have you checked the oceanrevive T247-B yet? I believe it will work great for your tank. It is ideal for both fresh and marine aquatic applications, specialized for SPS/LPS/Soft corals and reef fish. The built-in controller controls TWO channels independently (blue and full spectrum channels) for both Time and Intensity. It also comes with both supporting brackets and hanging kits to fit any type of fish tank. Please check it out through OR website:http://www.oceanrevivellc.com/goods.php?id=21. Based on your tank size, I do recommend two units.
