Hey everyone. Heard about this forum from one of the guys in the Houston area (Diesel) and thought it would be a good place to learn more and hopefully pick up some nice corals that we don't have in the area.

A little about me now. I started my first tank around March 2012 so I do not have much first hand knowledge of the hobby but have been wanting to get a reef tank for around 10 years now. (Had small FW tanks growing up) Finally made the plunge and have been having a good time with the hobby so far, even the girlfriend is helping out with the tank. My tank is a 58g with a 20g sump and DIY stand and canopy. Just bought a dosing pump and an Apex controller so if there are any apex experts out there I could probably use some help to use it to its ability. Now time for some pictures.
I just realized I don't have any recent pictures. Oops, I will get some new ones today and post them up.

Congrats on the APEX, you got the full blown advance the Lite or JR?
I can help setup but your best bet is if you want it life on the WWW contact Mark L, he's doing a overhaul on my and we getting it ready for the fusion.
What kind of dossers you ended up with?

As you can tell from the photos I am having a little bit of a HA problem and I can't figure out how to get rid of it. I am dosing Carbon and GFO (raised the amount of GFO a few weeks ago) plus have a few turbo snails and fuge with cheato. Any suggestions?

What kind of dossers you ended up with?

Had to join after you were posting on Marsh about the coral you were buying from this site.

I got the full blown Apex with lab grade probes.
Dosing unit is GHL with 3 pump (Mag, Alk, Cal)

I will definitely need to get with Mark L then.

I have the same dosing pump.
Before I had the Libra but nothing than trouble on the firmware, love the unit but it was way off on dosing totals.

About your HA, you said dosing Carbon, what carbon you using?
Be careful with the GFO to much can cause your SPS to RTN/STN.
I think if you manually remove as much as possible and raise your MAG up to about 1600/1700 it will slowly decline.
Light photo time may need to be reduced a little too or do a 3 days of darkness.
I never had any HA ever (weird but good) I always made sure that testing PO4 from the beginning had something to do with it, as in keep # low so it have no chance to grow.
Cause of that your bio-load need to be low too, especially when your tank if fairly new.
Golden rule in this hobby is "if you think you going slow go even slower"
Well, you saw my tank and I can't complain.

Oops. Didn't mean to say dosing carbon, I have carbon and Gfo in separate reactors. BRS carbon rox and Gfo high capacity.

I raised the mag to 1600 a few months ago to get rid to the HA that looks like a feather and it worked for that. Guess I can try that again to see if that works.

Didn't think I could do the 3 days with no light because of hurting the coral and ******* off the anemone.

I didn't think I was feeding to much, food lasts less than a min in the tank. Been feeding mysis shrimp and rinsing it before putting it in the tank.
