Just wondering if the 10ml a day of KNO3 solution is universal or if there is a formula to correct the solution for your water volume

I have seen a lot of threads with @twilliard chiming in with expertise!

Everyone has different tank volumes so 10ml a day may be someones number but more than likely not yours. What is your tank volume? There are a lot of variables that can determine whether or not your system can or will export the nitrate efficiently. Start slow and test daily to figure out how much you need to get to and maintain your desired level.

my system is 27 gal total volume. I have kicked up my feeding habits from every other day to everyday for almost a week now (mixture of mysis, reef roids and crushed flake food broadcast fed). still no measurable nitrates in the system. I have lots of macro and it grows really well. Ive got a mangrove, I run cheato and dragons breath with the mangrove in my fuge, as well as a large plant in the DT itself. I'm pretty confident that between that, purigen and my corals, I will be able to export the NO3.

Not to mention I have High Alk because I was dosing purple tech to raise calcium, my sps is paling and I believe its due to no NO3 in the system. so if I get some NO3 I have a feeling everything will skyrocket in terms of growth

Sounds like you have a great export method on your side. For most who end up dosing No3 are typically using media, pellets (over using) then say "oh my my No3 needs to be above "0"? " oh and don't forget the people who use the best of the best skimmers pulling out everything that is fed.
I love No3 (and Po4). This may sound weird, as I usually am, but my best education for No3 and Po4 came from keeping my lawn green and healthy.
Oh can't forget my famous saying "No3 keeps it green (photosynthesis) Po4 lets it grow (cell reproduction)"

Thanks for the insight, Hopefully I am not choking out my coral with the Macro's.

Just as a sidestory, I started calcium nitrate and had an explosion of algae because it was obviously out of ratio to the nopox, but after turning it down to a few drops (starting with a 90ppm solution) I saw things even out. Nitrate still stays 0-1ppm but most of the time undetectable. But since I does it hourly I think that makes a big difference.
"Every hour there's at least a little in the water" kind of mentality vs dosing abunch and hoping the carbon cycle gets it before other things..
