Another Radion light question

You mean on the phone screen? I'm not relying on the app I am relying on my corals to guide me for light intensity but if you google search par for radions you can find people with the same lights and same size tanks but completely different par numbers which creates confusion obviously. For the longest time I thought my intensity was perfect but now as I slowly raise the intensity it's like the corals are thanking me by growing more.

Well I finally got ahold of a par meter and all I have to say is XR15 lights are weak units. I'm at 90% intensity and I took the diffusers off and it's like 250 6 inches deep. Drops to 150 mid tank and like 120 at the bottom. Obviously there are hotter and colder spots here and there. Looks like I'll be at 100% intensity with these things at least.

On a side not, the photone phone app was fairly accurate above water.

I tried with and without diffusers and not much difference overall so I don't know if the better spread with the diffuser is worth the par loss because the numbers are already much lower then I thought they would be.

AB plus program so not everything is 100 like white red and green. But schedule and point intensity is 100.

Mounted 6" above the water line on a 20" deep tank is a lot different than 24" above the water line and a 20" deep tank.

Yes, I didn't post specs but my tank is 22 inches deep and the lights are on standard RMS mounts 8 inches above the water. Basic radion set up.

I was getting 170-180 par 12" deep in my tank near the middle of the tank with the 2 gen 6 XR15's at 45% with diffusers, mounted 8" above the water. Dropped down to about 130 near the edge of the tank at the same height.

I switched to the AB+ program with 100% intensity.... its 200 par at the same spot i posted above. So lost of 28% par vs all led's maxed.

If I don’t mind @Tuan’s Reef What’s the par at the water line and mid tank under the lights I have same tank as @Lavey29 ab+ 75% intensity. I think I can push some more par then. Ty

I tried taking mine off made very little change in par except more distinct hot spots here and there but my eyes couldn't take the glaring LED

I was like 300 at the water line at 90% schedule and 150 mid tank.

Most LED lights dont lose intensity however aged diodes may not produce same Kelvin as new. See if you can rent or borrow a PAR meter from a local LFS or reef club. Two reef clubs I belong to have loaners with a required deposit returned when Meter is returned.
