It's the sad reality. I had the clamp idea planted in my head here a year ago by another reefer who's tank failed. It was his and others posts and pics that made me reach out to Red Sea. "No issue we can see" they said. Well..can you see it now?

I said the same thing. I caught it 5 mins in because I was in the studio. I've been out of the country before for 10+ days. Yes I have an Apex and a Blink camera on it. But from 1400+ miles away....

There are 3 new leaking Red Sea tanks for sale this week in my area. Seeing them more and more.

This naive fellow thinks he can get some to pay $1000 to move their 240g Red Sea tank….jist so they can seal it themselves!

I don’t get why people are lying top dollar for these tanks still. They don’t look that much better than rimmed tanks. It’s the contents that matter.

Makes no sense to me. People shouldn't buy them NEW based on the imminent failure.

I have an Elos, it's 19.5". Any taller, braces. Thought about bracing it anyway

There is at least one pass through I know off but more could be added

How many companies out there are making rimless glass tanks and how many out there week after week after week have seam leak threads pop up?

I accept any company has a failure rate but red seas is drastically out of proportion.

Red Sea has a design flaw and instead of correcting the flaw they made “band aids” but never successfully addressed the original issue, and they barely will agree there even was a design issue. The fact they have multiple versions with multiple “fixes” confirms this without admitting it.

I know CurrentUSA leak tested these 2+years before going to market, and overdesigned them. The stand especially.
This cabinet was over engineered for strength, and to prevent any sagging or flex.

In all seriousness, you are lucky you had those clamps. I have a rimless build going on and while I have no reason to expect a seam failure, it can happen to any brand. I will be adding these clamps to my build equipment list. If I ever was in your situation, I currently do not have any means to do what you did to buy time. 50$ is a small investment and I could use them for other projects.

+1 Bigtime. I just put these on my list of things to buy. I love this site. SO many great oddball suggestions!

My Red Sea failed after 3. Unless they overdesigned the actual seals there's no guarantee. The failure point isn't in the stands themselves as they ARE solidly built. It's the construction and I'm sure rimless doesn't help. We're talking a full, water only, tank is 734 lbs pressing down and outwards in cycles depending on flow shifts. They all need to design for WELL over that.

My last tank was a red see reefer, now I have a 300 gallon acrylic from tenecor, no seams to worry about, only 250 pounds easy to move.

After this disaster is solved consider acrylic every glass tank I have ever had ended up with scratches with acrylic you can fix it at least.

Wish you luck in your tank recovery read the sand rinsing thread it details lots of people successful tank moves and what to do. You will probably end up moving everything twice once to a Rubbermaid 150 or 300 gallon stock tank and once into a new tank.

Glass seams always fail eventually some at 3 years some at 20 years

I have sent an inquiry to Tenecor for a tank only that will fit on my current solid stand (Red Sea DO build those well). Also sent for a quote from Waterbox. Same dimensions but Eurobraced, with Aluminum, and 45 Deg joints.
