Added a Royal gramma, urchin and purple fire fish a week ago this Saturday. Purple Firefish began coming out this week and now consistently comes out at least to feed. The royal Gramma immediately went into hiding. Came out a few times the first few days at feeding. Haven't seen him since with the exception of me catching him in a cave at night last Thursday evening with a flashlight. Have not been able to find him since then. Only other tank inhabitants are a pair of ocellaris clowns and a yellow watchman goby, fire shrimp and crabs/snails in a 39 gallon with 50 lbs of crevasse laden live rock. How long do I wait before throwing in the towel and going with a different fish?

Yep they will stay hidden if they do not feel comfortable with the environment.

My royal was attacked over a couple of weeks ago by a damsel I had to rehome. He has since built a bunker cave and now has a huge pile of sand to show for it. He is definitely a professional rock dweller and it makes me smile!!

Saltyundeground actually followed up with me and after letting them know whats going on offered to replace the fish as nice as that was. So now I'm really curious, how long do I wait this out? When is the " ok its been MIA this long it has to be dead timeline?" Still no trace of it looking hard with a flashlight, mysis or anything. Was thinking of trying a coral beauty to actually see something swim.
