I have a rather unique tank lol, 40b DT but around 150g total water. The tank will be lightly stocked, snails, 2 clowns, a dragonet, and likely cleaner shrimp because I love my skunk cleaners. BUT it is going to be a SPS tank. My question therefore is should I scale my skimmer for the 40 or go bigger because of SPS?

Another problem I am finding is that there are NO real high quality skimmers for the 40-75 range, there are a couple decent nano skimmers but after that it jumps to 100+ gallons before you run into another decent skimmer for the price. The 40-75 range seems to be almost completely junk.

For SPS even in a smaller tank I would go with and overrated skimmer. I would go with something rated for 100g or more all day long.

I'd go with Reef Octopus...by far the best skimmers I've owned. I currently run the SRO 3000SSS Internal and the SRO 1000 Internal for my quarantine tank.
