There have been lots of threads about starter fish however I have a more specific question. I have a new tank and I’m using the Red Sea mature starter kit. They say on day 14 to add herbivorous Fish, one per 100 L.

I had been planning on starting w B&W clowns or chromis and this threw me. Most herbivorous fish are either too expensive to use as starter fish or too aggressive to put in first. Any suggestions?

Probably its their way of combating algae growth. You dont need to follow that for algae growth. You can put in snails.

Cleaning crew (suggested brittle stars, snails and sea cucumbers) goes in on day 10. I would think that’s good enough to control beginning algae. Don’t know how serious to take the herbivorous fish. Could it have anything to do with their kit?
