Hello - I recently set up my 525xl (108gal DT, 143gal total volume). I have a refugium, skimmer, and roller mat for filtration. My nitrates and phosphates are bottoming out at zero with my current 12 fish and heavy feeding.

Currently in the tank:
2x ocellaris clowns who don’t really leave their BTA
3x banggai cardinals
3x bimac anthias
2x sunburst anthias
1 starry blenny
1 flame angel

It’s very peaceful right now - the clowns will chase the occasional cardinal away from their nem and the flame angel gets grouchy if the anthias move in on his sleeping spot, but no real issues with aggression so far.

I would like to add:

Kole tang
longnose butterfly
blue throat trigger
some kind of wrasse

This would put me at 16 fish, mostly small-ish. Feedback? Suggestions? Too few? Too many? I am not worried about nutrients, in fact from that perspective alone I have a lot more fish to add - mostly worried about space/aggression with my max.

Thanks for reading!

I would think maybe a couple wrasses but i am biased. Not sure on the trigger, might be on the small side. The kole tang is always fun.
Like my tank is too small for the trigger you mean? I was curious about that…I want things to be pretty spacious.

Really just looking for something blue/green!

Triggers will swim and be rather active. It really depends how you feel but personally I don’t like triggers except when in large tanks due to how much they swim.

As for the “Kole” Tang, you can’t get them anymore however you can get other Ctenochaetus species such as C. binotatus which is almost identical to the kole except for the blue ring around their eyes.
The rest look good and I agree with a group of wrasses but I too am biased.

Thanks - sadly i’ve heard that, I was looking at the “spotted” kole that dr. reef sells. Looks very similar.

My total fish target looks alright?

Yeah I think it does - I have a 4’ tank with 11 fish in it and do know others with a similar tank to mine with 30+ fish in it.
