It’s a process, but specially for pods, but it’s SO worth it.

Correct, ran the cultures through the sieve, then poured NSW back through the sieve into the beaker for observation

I have a pair of plastic tongs that I use to grab the pieces that aren’t wanted and then rinse them with more NSW over the sieve. I’ve noticed it tends to grow a small bit of hair algae every harvest so I gather that clump up and wash it then toss the remainder

No prob! Best of luck. This is my 4th harvest, I actually let this one go a week longer to see the difference. Just added some more phyto for food and let ‘em go nuts

Yes, so far it seems pretty straightforward. How many weeks do you normally go in between harvests? Do you start with some pods from previous harvest and add more Phyto and FSW to start it up again?

I typically go a full 7 days for each, but now I’m messing with the formula to see optimums. 1 week runs will definitely produce

When I harvest phyto I keep 250ml behind to start the next batch mixed with NSW and fertilizer. 250 goes in the fridge for backup in case of a problem. I also keep 250ml of phyto for each pod culture. The remainder (typically 1 litre) is stored in bottles for use on my system.


With the pods I harvest all but 250ml of the pod culture (per type) and use that 250 for the next batch.

Keeps the math simple in my mind

A film like substance forms that is almost like a wet thin piece of green/brown paper in different spots and then it looks like someone put fish food flakes into the container when it breaks up

I haven’t experienced that, how strange.

I get whispy clumps of gha but that’s the most I’ve seen. And you’re dosing the fertilizers as stated?

Not the same set up (I've used a gallon of distilled water from the store the past few times), but yes I used f/2 fertilizer as the bottles instructed
