ok I am looking to add another tang to my 180g.
currently I have a hybrid half black mimic tang, so I am trying to find another tang that is reef safe, peaceful, and can live in my 180 forever

the lfs has a nice blue line for a great price also they have had for a few months, but I dont know if it is compatible with my half black?
they also have a small/med purple tang but I read they are not peaceful. and I have never seen a blue line besides this one, except in pics (I like to have things you dont normally see)

what do you guys/girls think

I have a purple, yellow, hippo and naso together in my 180. That isn't "supposed" to work in many ways, but it does perfectly in my circumstance. Often times it comes down to individual personalities. It's certainly worth a try if you are willing to intervene if it doesn't work out. Good luck.

yea.. I am looking for something that wont outgrow my 180 like a naso. and I dont much care for the yellow tangs, purple tangs are aggressive cant drop the funds on a gem tang so zebrasoma tangs are out.

this leaves me with basically 2-3 species of tangs.

are the yellow belly hippos more peaceful than the regular hippo's?

How about a Chevron Tang? I love mine. It's not aggressive at all and is very active.

In my experience is a hippo is a hippo. You might try a convict, kole, or orange shoulder.

I also like to have stuff you don't normally see. I just got a trio of Convict Tangs. I don't see many at all. I love mine! The Orange Shoulder would probably be a good choice for a more peaceful one also. It would be cool to see it change from yellow to the grey with the orange and blue stripe also.
