My tank for the first year was spot on.. SPS growth was great. Solid colors, decent growth, no loses with maybe the exception of 1 frag. And this was out of almost 40-50 frags over a year.

Here a few month ago I was battling some Cyano and decided to do a 3 day blackout. That's when everything took a turn. I don't know if it was just a coincidence or not, but today it's looking like I am headed for a complete loss in concerns to SPS.

What's changed hardware wise? I added two retro T5's (24") to supplement. When doing this I turned down my LED's about 20%. I actually took a PAR reading of my LED's on the old setting and then matched that PAR reading with the T5's on by scaling back my LED's. Actually the PAR reading is a bit lower today that it was before the T5's. And we're talking 300-350 MAX on max intensity. There were times in the past when things were good that my PAR readings were as high as 550-600 at max intensity with no problems. So I don't think it's my lighting.

Flow wise I have two MP10's... plently of water movement in my shallow reef. My RO filter's media is maybe 6 months old. TDS meter shows 0 on the output.

Prior to the blackout I was dosing Alk and Cal (Reef Fusion) at a level of 1 minute per hour on every hour. Numbers were stable. After the blackout i had to scale back the time to keep things stable. Here today the dosers run for 5 seconds on the hour every hour to maintain 8 Alk and 440-450 cal. This change wasn't overnight however, it was over a period of several months.

Within days of the blackout I had some die off. No PE, and then RTN of about a 3rd of my SPS. 2/3 of my SPS looked ok. PE was "ok" but no RTN. But as time goes on the 2/3 that were good starting showing signs of STN. Frags that looked better post blackout are now showing signs of STN. The only SPS that seems to be ok are my Birdsnest..

I've done some dipping with some corals that started going through STN, nothing in the way of AEFW was found.. I've searched as best as my eyes allowed me to and don't see the trademark circular bites or eggs on my acros. So I'm leaning towards this not being the problem. The few LPS I have in my tank are happy. Just can't seem to narrow down what the cause may be. I have since added a few frags to my system and they seem to be ok. Not great, but no signs of STN.

I just got back in Triton test results and was hoping to see a smoking gun in regards to what could be the problem.. from the parameters I can understand it doesn't seem that way. I was hoping someone could help me translate any issues (if any) from the overall results.

I dose Reef Fusion 1/2, Acropower once a week (1/2 of recommended), feed my tank frozen foods (now every other day), and pellets twice a day. I manually dose Mag once a week. RedSea Pro test always shows 1350-1400. if i'm reading the triton test results correctly they show its low.

Any help is appreciated!

Actually your magnesium is a bit high on the Triton Test, but I would not pay much attention to it, since I don't think it can cause any issues. But again I would ask some of the experts on this forum like Randy Farley. Your Iron is a bit high so I would cut down a bit on the Acro power, I believe it contains Iron as a supplement.

Check all the parameters showing a red flag. They might be related to your amino dosing on acropower.

I don't see anything in the Triton test that jumps out to me as an explanation of the results. it may have been a biological response tot eh blackout and subsequent conditions. Such as a pathogenic bacteria thriving in the higher nutrients that came from the dead cyano, or maybe even toxins released by the cyano as it died.

Thanks everyone.

So Randy, if this is/was the case, In your opinion is this something that will eventually right itself by maintaining my tank as it was prior to the blackout? That is minus the heavy feeding which I think was/is the cause for the Cyano. As it stands it's gone and the only day to day that has changed was cutting the froze meaty foods back by half.

I'm two months away from the blackout and still see some STN. Although the newer SPS I've added seem to be fine
