so just starting my tank up after out of it for several years. My first fish I decided on chronis as this is what I started with years ago. I put three in my DT thinking if I do get ick I can pull out easily and go fallow since nothing g else in it. Ah. Then I read about Uronema after one died. Quickly pulled out dying one and some research and ah! surprised about this free swimming thing and thought I just made biggest mistake. However, here is my question. The other 2 look great swimming and eating. Is it possible that the other two could live without getting it? Can it be in tank but low populations revenue bacterial and not Uronema? Should I pull others out. And treat? I am planning on just leaving these 2 in there for several weeks to observe before adding any others. If good I will just continue with restocking. Is this a good plan? Oh the fish had what look like scrape on it but next day had red blotch.

Are you sure the first one died of Uronema? 3 chromis will often fight. Note that uronema often doesn't present with visible symptoms until too late. I would isolate the two fish and treat just in case if you suspect uronema.

We don't know too much about uronema and some believe that it may be present in many tanks without ever causing issues. It is possible to have a small viral load but over time that's a weak guarantee.

I am not sure uron ma Could have been bacterial. But it was kinda quick and I’m one day after I got it. I was thinking same thing that that it could be present in many tanks. Can get in many ways.
Also hoping humbkefish is correct about doubting other chronic could survive so let’s hope they stay strong
I lnever knew about the black mollie test. Thank you so much for directing to that. I just may try that and I will let you know c

Chromis are fragile little fish. It’s possible he just died from stress. Although I’d lean more to Uronema myself. Did this fish have any visible external signs? What was his behavior just before he expired?

Did the Chromis that died have any red sores or spots on its body?

Yes, sorry I put it at end of my original post. When I got home from lfs. I put him in tank and noticed a small scrape on him. But next morning stayed in rocks all day then by 24 hours drying on sand. Pulled him and that lesion turned into a red blotch. I only assume Uronema because it is a chronis and red spot. That is why I hope more bacterial Thoughts?
