So I'm getting ready to set up a 25 watt pentair sterilizer. I'm not doing it to cure anything, just to keep things under control. For those running uv, what's your reason and what is your experience with and without running uv. For people that don't, why not? My display is 55 gal with a 30 gal sump. Thanks for your opinions and advice.[emoji4]

I am running a 36 watt on a 180g. It is simply insurance to help kill algae spores like dinos and possibly bacteria and or parasites that actually go through it. I don’t feel it does any harm so I like running it. I run ozone in my skimmer so I don’t notice any difference in water clarity because my tank is already super clear.

I don't want to kill the circulating bacteria. I prefer them to stay alive until the are taken up by an organism that wants to eat them, or they get exported by skimming. :)

I have used them with great success for fish holding systems in retail stores and businesses over the years. Great tool as long as it is used properly. I will be using them in the future as well.
