So I’ve got another case of white little dots on fish. Basically, everything was doing fine until I added a royal gramma without QT (I know.. I know..). He was fine for about two weeks and then didn’t come out for a few days, then was found dead. No white dots or signs of disease. About a week later my flame angel died overnight, no signs of anything. About 2 weeks later I noticed many small white dots on my pintail wrasses’ pectoral fins. Same with my saddle puffer. I pulled out my pintail for copper, since it looked like velvet, but I didn’t have CP on hand for the puffer. However, once I had my wrassewas in qt settling in the dots cleared up. Similarly, the spots on my puffer have improved, although they’re still there. My understanding is that if it was velvet, it would have progressed quickly (both fish are looking better after one week). Basically, I’m unsure if what’s going on is ich, velvet, lympho or nothing. Of note, during this whole month long period I had 5 chromis, a firefish, a shrimp goby, and a melanarus wrasse in the tank with zero symptoms. Attached is a photo of the puffer, albeit a bad one. White spots most visible on the dorsal fin.

I would think if it was Velvet the puffer and pintail would have died quickly as well....and your other fish don't have symptoms including the Melanarus. The Wrasses don't surprise me though....that's why some people call them "typhoid Marys". I am sorry about your other fish that died!

Whenever something pops up on a fish, since my tank is so large 400+ I have stopped trying to catch them, almost impossible and probably stress everything out even more. I have just learned to feed heavy for two days and everything seems to clear up. I feed extra nori, frozen foods, pellets and flakes. Garlic and Selcon, between the two days.

This has worked very well for me
