Recently we’ve had an order from our Indo suppliers and on this particular order, we received 30 Disbar Anthias. They went straight into our QT system and I gave them some mysis that was pre-thawed. As expected they didn’t show any interest at all since they’d only been in less than an hour, updated my manager and that’s when he hit me with it. He told me to mix up a thick Reef-Roids slurry and feed them with it every 30-40 minutes. I gave him a quizzical look and set about it.

I picked up the trusty turkey-baster and fired some of the slurry into the QT tank and then it happened. All 30 of these little Disbars went CRAZY, the very same fish that ignored my special mysis garlic mixture. The little suckers where racing round vacuuming up the microscopic goodness.

So my question, has anyone else fed there Anthias Reef-Roids or any other coral food at that?

Small plankton type foods are readily accepted, baby brine, cyclops, calanus copepods, etc.

The biggest takeaway I had was how quickly they accept the Roids, when they turned a blind eye to the mysis. They appear to be all females of adult size.
