Hi everyone,

I don’t have any anthias and never have. I think they are beautiful, and I’d like to have one or two at some point. However, I’ve been told they need cooler water. For those of you who keep anthias, what temp do you keep your reef at? I also have really hot summers where I live, and I don’t have a chiller. I use fans to try to keep the temp in range. Tank temp can get up to around 80-81 in the summers. I imagine this would be too warm for anthias. In non-summer months, it’s kept at 78. Thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

78 just fine. 80 just fine. This one’s 3 years old
The other lie is they must be fed 3-4 times per day.
Mine…2 with everyone else.

Ok, that’s good to hear. I can feed 2 times per day. I really like the sunburst fathead anthias, but others are pretty as well. Which anthias do you consider to be the easiest to start with?

I did 5 small female simple orange with purple eye, very common. In about 6 months, one female will turn reddish from orange and spike the dorsal.

Here’s male left with 1 female.
